- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 can 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup water
Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
Add the flour and whisk until combined. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Add the red pepper flakes, basil, oregano, parsley, salt, and black pepper and stir to combine.
Add the crushed tomatoes and water and bring to a simmer.
Reduce heat to low and simmer for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve over spaghetti or your favorite pasta.
